This was written a While Back...But It is Fitting ..In Respect To Teddy Pendergrass who was once with Harold Melvin and The Bluenotes......Wake UP EVERYBODY!!!!!
RIP TEDDY PENDERGRASS ....... THERE was a TIME THAT MUSIC held a RESPONSIBILITY!!!!
When Teddy Pendergrass of Harold Melvin of the Bluenotes told everyone to "Wake Up" he quickly followed those words with "no more sleeping in bed..NO MORE BACKWARD THINKING:: TIME FOR THINKING AHEAD".
Ok lets research the word known as Backwards. Backwards is found to be synonymous with words like (regressive) (timid) (feebleminded) and (retarted). These words definately have negative stigma about them that are seen to be evident within our society and culture.
Backwards:
1. Directed or facing toward the back or rear.
2. Done or arranged in a manner or order that is opposite to previous occurrence or normal use.
3. Unwilling to act; reluctant; shy.
4. Behind others in progress or development:
regressive - opposing progress
retrospective - concerned with or related to the past
backward - retarded in intellectual development
feebleminded
retarded - relatively slow in mental or emotional or physical development.
The varitions of the definition reviewed here has described a word that connects us to a place in our history that takes us to a Pychological place of entrapment. The connection is not the word (Backwards). The connections is how we think. Which is Backwards. If there was a word that connected us, it would Be Nigga/ Nigger/ or Niggra.
The word was used to create state of mind for the white slave owner as well as the black slave that expressed the thought that we(blacks) were not human. We didnt count. We did not amount to anything. We were worthless. It was apart of the Brainwashing that is seen in the infamous but true willie lynch letters. It was a designed tactic that was created to introduce a generational enslavement that would last until we decided to wake up out of the slumbered nightmare known as slavery. Yeah you may say I am not a slave. Im free from the Man...Im free from Chains that adorned my great great great grandparents. But are you really. We have Been free for over 150 years but we are still talking about Whips and Chains. and calling each other Nigga.
The word Nigga has been used to desensitize for hundreds of years. de·sen·si·tize (d-sns-tz)
tr.v. de·sen·si·tized, de·sen·si·tiz·ing, de·sen·si·tiz·es
1. To render insensitive or less sensitive.
2. To make emotionally insensitive or unresponsive, as by long exposure or repeated shocks:
3. desensitised
insensitive - deficient in human sensibility; not mentally or morally sensitive; "insensitive to the needs of the patients"
Instead of us looking at each other as Brothers and Sisters we look at each others as Niggas. " That Nigga Is doing it Big" "That Nigga got money " "I just saw that Nigga" " Thats My Nigga" "I know That Nigga" " That Nigga aint Shit" "F--ck that Nigga" " Lets ride on them Niggas" " Them Niggas wack" "Look at these Niggas" "Im going to kill that Nigga"
Yeah we say it...I've done it...and I now publicly apologize to God, to my family..To my friends. To all that will except my apology. I called you less than Human... I called you the Shit on my shoes.... I called you that Strange Fruit that hung from the trees...I called you dumb...and worthless...I called you a skank...I called you a sexual object that is good for pleasure but not good enough to be considered a Woman. I told you I can rape your wife and you cant do nothing about it. I told you I can take your newborn twins and sell them. I told you that you cant look me in my eyes Boy!!! I told you that your Husband was sold and you will never see him again. I told you that you must breed with this buck ..that you dont even know. I told you I dont care if you just had a Niggra child get back in that field and work. I told you that salt aint to kind to them wounds on your back...Ill beat you and Burn you into being a Good Niggra...!!!
And its Just a Word!!!! Thats what we say....Words are stonger than you can Imagine....Words Form what happens in Life...You speak Life...You have Life....You speak Death ...you have Death.
We use it as a sign of strength!!!!(you my nigga)...No!!! Yeah try using the word brother or sister. Substitute it. It holds some weight. You would think twice about what you say and how your actions react to what has been spoken....You cant say F_ _ck My brothers or sisters....If your mind has some hope of intellect, in do time you will catch what Im saying and understand it.....Im not Oprah...Im not ludacris....but I can relate to both.....Im from the Hood born and raised... And I still be in the hood...Im a professional like both...and I am very much into the wellness of our people and community. I want to say that we as a people need to recgonize the truth about our pass so we can really know where and how to get to the future. The Place where Dr. King dreamed about...The place where our ancestors who fought Chains,Whips,High water pressure and (Coon Dogs) dreamed about....
The word Nigga has caused us to not respect one another as we should. It has continued to release its demoralizing venom through generations of sleeping Warriors/Intellectuals/ Kings/ Queens /Presidents/Men And Women. We have to begin somewhere. I am tired of seeing the shoot out after the club...Because " We dont like them Niggas"....or..."Them Niggas think they gangsta"...." I dont Know them Niggas...F-ck them Niggas"/// we dont care no more....Stop It....We have To Love our way out of this.....Call me Your Brother....and I will call you what you deserve to be known as ....My Brother or My Sister.....I love all who read this.... We have To wake up to achieve our Dreams....We are killing each other because we have been trained to do this..We have lost the value to the gift of being human....The Klan has taken a vacation...trained us how to do there work...and we do it...It was woven into our minds centuries ago. Its a generational Curse that Must be broken. I find it intresting that all spiritual warfare takes place in the Mind.....So Lets CHANGE our Minds and Break this.....We can do this.....Lets Love...Lets Love...Lets Love...My Brothers and Sisters. Just Love....call Me Your Brother Not your Nigga
